Location
Chapelco Ski Centre is located 20 Km away from the city of San Martín de los Andes, in Neuquén province. You can get to it following National Road 234, which goes by the edge of Lake Lácar, and then taking National Road 19, driving the final 5 km to the resort base area.
San Martín de los Andes is located 432 km away from Neuquén capital city, from where you should take National Roads 22, 237, 40 and 234, or 22, 40 and 234.

Downhill, cross-country, telemark and off-piste skiing, snowboarding, snowmobile rides, dog-pulled sled excursions and snowshoe hikes.

Lifts and Runs
In the 2008 season, Chapelco is opening its doors with a total amount of 24 runs, spread out over 140-hectare skiable area, as well as outstanding off-piste areas. The resort has a significant vertical drop of 730 meters and the longest run is 5.3 km.

Snowboarding enthusiasts have an exclusive area with jumps, bumps and rails to improve or just have a go at the four modalities: half pipe, parallel slalom, fun park and big air. 12 safe and reliable lifts guarantee a capacity to carry 14,500 skiers per hour (1 cable car, 5 chairlifts, 4 surface lifts, 3 mobile lifts and 2 magic carpets).

Ski and Snowboard School
Hundreds of renowned instructors await the arrival of both beginner and advanced skiers to offer them individual or group lessons, a guaranteed opportunity to improve skiing or snowboarding skills.

Equipment Rental Shop
The resort ski rental, located at the base of the Ski Centret, offers large facilities and fast service, from 9am to 6pm. The equipment rental service includes ski lockers and boot dryers.
The repair shop, assisted by qualified staff, operates at the resort from 9am to 5pm.

Services
Not everything is skiing at Chapelco. You can also enjoy exciting snowmobile excursions, snowshoe trekkings across an ancient lenga forest, or rides on sleds pulled by Siberian and Alaskan Huskies.

As far as gastronomy is concerned, the 8 restaurants located at the winter resort offer a variety of options, ranging from Patagonian high cuisine specialties to fast food buffets.
As regards safety, the resort has a team of ski patrollers trained in first aid, who control de area regularly. Besides, a medical assistance centre and emergency ambulances complete the necessary equipment by regulation to enjoy the snow and the mountain to the utmost.

The varied hotel and gastronomic infrastructure in San Martín de los Andes completes the proposal of the Ski Centre. Excellent hotels and cabins, restaurants, coffee-shops and other tourist services are available for those who choose Chapelco to enjoy the snow and the mountain.

This system will guarantee the new quadruple chairlift to function throughout the whole season.

MAGIC CARPETS
2 magic carpets or conveyor belts will be installed in the beginner area, at 1,600 mts and in the snow kindergarten for the little ones to enjoy.

SNOW CAT GROOMING MACHINES
There are 2 new snow cat grooming machines, one of them equipped with a winch to use on steep slopes.

BUILDING IMPROVEMENT
The building of the 1,700 mts. post was improved, as well as the parking lot near the dismountable quadruple chairlift and the refuge for the triple chairlift and Antilauquen restaurant.

CHAPELCO CLASSIC CARS GRAND PRIX

From 13th to 15th October, the 2nd Chapelco Antique Classic and Special Cars Grand Prix of Patagonia will take place in San Martín de los Andes. Cars more than 25 years old will engage in this race, surrounded by the lovely scenery of this mountain village.

X-TREME RUGBY

The 3rd game of the Fernet Cinzano Cup will take place on 14th July. For this game in San Martin de los Andes, the organizers invited men who played with the “Pumas” and the “Pumitas” T-shirt as professionals, representing their country: Gonzalo Camardón, Cristian Viel Temperley, Damián Rodriguez and Sebastián Méndez Trongé.

NELSON WILLIAMS SKI INTER-COLLEGE GAMES

Students representing different schools from all over the country take part in these games. They are primary and secondary school students that train during the first days of the week, to be able to perform well in the varied stages of the competition. They also have a slalom descent competition.
Date: from 9th to 16th September.

POLO ON SNOW

Four polo teams, excellent horses and beautiful women were the stars in Chapelco in the opening season of the Polo on Snow Tournament. Ricardo Piñero’s models were part of the public that gathered by the sides of the field, specially designed at station 1,500. Each polo team was composed of three riders that played intensely to get to the following and final round of the tournament. The games consisted of two seven-minute times each.

TETRATHLON, A CHAPELCO CLASSIC

Competitors must run for a total of 85 Kms.

Skiing 15 Kms – This stage combines ascents with the skis on their shoulders, and descents through runs, snow parks and off-piste.

Mountain Biking 44 Kms – This includes steep descents, and constant ups and downs, with some technical sectors on a terrain that demands great effort.

Kayaking 10 Kms – Kayaking across Lácar Lake will give the competitors’ legs a brake.

Running 16 Kms – Finally, they end the competition running up and down through different mountain paths, until they get to the finish line.
